My Favourite DIY Face Mask (All Kitchen Ingredients)

I have always been into DIY face masks. I remember my sister and I would create masks out of yogurt and turmeric when we were younger and would walk around showing off our (very) yellow faces. It was such a fun ritual to do with her and sometimes we could rope my mom into it too. But the part of it that I loved the most was the feeling it gave me. I could create my own mask out of ingredients I had in the kitchen! In fact, that concept is what got me into naturopathic medicine. The idea that everything I needed to be healthy/nourished existed in my kitchen cupboards was fascinating to me. It inspired a whole bunch of creativity in me when it came to nutrition and skincare. One of my “whys” behind this blog is to show people that wellness doesn’t have to be complicated. We don’t have to have tons of money and all the resources at our fingertips in order to take charge of our own health. We literally hold the power everyday to make changes for the better. And a lot of that starts in the kitchen. Making your own medicine.

I’ve tried a few different DIY skincare masks over the years (and even more during quarantine), and I have a few that I love. But my absolute favourite one is this Oatmeal and Flax mask. It’s easy to make and most people have these ingredients in their kitchen. For me, I find that it brightens my skin, helps a bit with acne scars and really leaves my skin feeling very cleansed for days after. That’s right… you heard me. Days.

Sharing the recipe below! Let me know if you try it. I want to hear if you like it or if you have a favourite DIY mask you use!

Ps. it smells like a yummy breakfast which is a bonus!
