My 6 Favourite Podcasts

Before podcasts became a thing, I didn’t really understand what they were for. I had the purple podcast app on my iphone that I never deleted, but also never used. And then suddenly the whole industry just burst wide open. The first podcast I started listening to was Off the Vine by Kaitlyn Bristowe. I have always enjoyed her humour on Instagram and randomly one day just popped her podcast on and was immediately hooked. After bingeing every episode, I was itching for more podcasts to fall in love with. Over the past couple years, I have expanded my podcast library considerably. However, there are a few key ones that continue to be in my repertoire. I love to share podcasts with people during conversations and enjoy chatting about what I learn from them. So I’ve decided to share a few with you here!

I listen to podcasts mostly when I’m cleaning or doing dishes or cooking. Those tasks are way more manageable when there’s a fun conversation going on in the background. I also love listening to podcasts when I go for walks. It sometimes even motivates to me walk for a longer period of time so I can listen to the whole thing. I don’t really listen to them in the car often, though I know a lot of people love that. For some reason I find it a bit too distracting, but I will throw one on occasionally, especially if I’m stuck in traffic or it’s a long drive.

My tip for starting to listen to podcasts: pick a topic that intrigues you and listen to a few episodes before deciding whether or not you like it. Also try doing it while you are doing something else because I find if I just sit and listen to a podcast I have to go back and rewind a lot because my mind starts to wander.

Off the vine with Kaitlyn Bristowe

Like I said, this one was my introduction to podcasts. And I’m so glad it was. Kaitlyn often has me LOL’ing when I listen to her podcast. She does confessions with guests in her podcasts and the things people reveal are so shocking but so relatable at the same time. Kaitlyn often talks about anxiety, self-love, self-care and her own mental wellness journey including the #realstagram movement, which just makes me adore this podcast even more. I tend to put this one on when I want something to lighten the mood and need a good laugh. It almost feels like chatting with a good girlfriend. There’s some good bachelor nation content thrown in sometimes as well.

The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast With Lauryn Evarts Bosstick and Michael Bosstick

This was the second podcast that I ever listened to, and it was also an instant #loveatfirstlisten. I’ve followed Lauryn Evarts (The skinny confidential) for YEARS. I mean waaay back to before I was even interested in wellness or naturopathic medicine. I remember reading her blogs and trying out some of her wellness hacks like dry skin brushing + almond oil and her berry mash for breakfast. Somewhere over the years, her content got lost somewhere on the infinite Instagram scroll, but when I saw this podcast - I knew I had to listen. That was about 2 years ago, and I have been completely hooked on the podcast and her blog since then. Lauryn and her husband Michael host this podcast. It’s basically an extension of her blog with a twist of having her husband’s perspective as well. She goes into depth on wellness trends, morning routines, skincare, lifestyle, branding, business, motivation, books and so much more. Their interviews with people are fire. They get really detailed with their questions and truly have their listener in mind. Whatever question I’m thinking about, Lauryn or Michael will be sure to ask their guest about. It’s like they are in my brain! I tend to listen to this one when I need some business or wellness motivation. And I love to listen to this in the morning - it sets up my day on a positive and motivating note.

Earn your happy With lori harder

This one I found incidentally when searching for podcasts to listen to. Immediately Lori Harder was speaking to my heart. She delves into some deep topics especially around self-worth, belief patterns, breaking through anxieties and stresses, emotions, manifestation, dealing with fear and learning how to create a life you love. She talks about how to go out and get what you want and also about cultivating community and connecting with like-minded people. I tend to listen to this one when I am in my head a lot or my anxiety/fear-based stories are really strong.

Feel Good podcast With kimberly snyder

This is one I listen to on and off when the mood strikes. Kimberly Snyder was my introduction to natural health. She is a nutritionist and author of multiple books. Before I knew much about naturopathic medicine, I had stumbled on her website and started incorporating some of her diet suggestions - especially hot lemon water in the mornings and the glowing green smoothie. I got people around me on those things too. It was game-changing for me because it catapulted me into the wellness industry and shortly after discovering her, I applied to the naturopathic medicine program. This podcast is a deeper dive into some of the topics she covers in her books. She answers audience questions about specific foods, wellness trends, beauty, supplements & vitamins, mental wellness, yoga and Ayurveda. She often ends her podcast with a quote or a nice thought which always leaves me feeling grounded. I listen to this one when I feel like I want to dive into nutrition and specific health topics.

From the Heart With Rachel Brathen (Yoga Girl)

Rachel is also someone I followed for awhile on Instagram. I didn’t follow her content super closely, but I know a lot of people in the yoga community really like her. This podcast specifically was recommended to me by a friend. When I first started listening to it, I didn’t love it. I don’t think it was the right time for it for me. But in the last few months, I have been listening to this one religiously. Sometimes I get so excited for Fridays when she releases the episodes. This one is a podcast I need to be in the mood for. It can be very deep, which I appreciate, but it isn’t always what I need. I listen to this one when I feel like I need to dive deeper into emotions, spirituality or want a new perspective on some heavier topics (eg. fear, struggle, anxiety, spirituality, yoga, boundaries, inner healing, etc.). I love that she starts her podcast with a check-in and taking deep breaths. It helps me center myself and be more present. I listen to this podcast when I want to connect a bit deeper to myself and to explore spirituality more.

The balanced blonde podcast by Jordan Younger

This one is my current obsession. I had listened to random episodes of this podcast in the past, but hadn’t gotten into it. Then something clicked. I found her on Instagram and realized it was her podcast I had listened to in the past. And I just adored her content on Instagram. There was so much about wellness, nutrition and spirituality that I knew I had to give her podcast another try. And I wasn’t wrong about that. This is my favourite one to listen to on walks, especially in the park among the trees. Her voice is so calming and I love when she talks about spirituality and her experiences. There’s something about being in nature and hearing her talk about those topics that feels like it connects you to a higher power in the most beautiful way. Since quarantine started, I’ve relied on her podcast to get me through. She had some beautiful reflections on this time and some very relatable thoughts regarding anxiety about health/the world at this time. I listen to this one when I need a calm, relaxed and spiritual vibe.
